News:
Dewatering and drainage systems from the company Richard Brink give roofs long-term protection against the effects of precipitation.

Protection from above

Richard Brink develops metal products for roofs

Roofs are much more exposed to weather influences than other parts of a building and therefore require especially reliable components. Protecting roofs has played an important role for Richard Brink GmbH & Co. KG since being founded in the mid-1970s: chimney caps were the first products the company sold and they are still used to prevent sooting in chimneys today. Richard Brink also provides wall copings and edge profiles, leaf guards and dewatering and drainage channels to protect against the effects of precipitation.

Rainwater that is not drained away and is instead left standing on flat roofs over a longer period of time has a serious effect on the lifespan of roofs and buildings. Massive moisture damage can even affect the structural stability of a building. That’s why drainage or dewatering channels are used on roofs to redirect precipitation into downpipes or gullies. Richard Brink offers an extensive range of dewatering systems, which it delivers custom-made in the required length. When it comes to roof landscaping, the manufacturer recommends pipes that can be inspected, which direct the water via the channel directly to the gully. The company’s designer cover gratings lend a striking look to roof terraces. At the same time, height-adjustable channels form a smooth transition between the apartment and the roof terrace and protect the entrance areas from moisture getting in.

Blocked overflows are a thing of the past

A new addition to Richard Brink’s product range are the stainless steel leaf guards, which protect the overflows on roofs from being blocked by leaves and other debris. Thanks to their sturdy material, they can withstand weather influences such as harsh sunlight or high temperatures in the long term. In just a few steps the guard can be removed and the outflow cleared and cleaned, if needed. Overflows thus remain permanently clear and rainwater can drain away easily.

Reliable protection of stone and brickwork

According to Section 5.5 of the German Flat Roof Guideline, roof edges of waterproofing layers require an edge terminator with a drop towards the roof side. With a slight drop of two degrees, cappings from Richard Brink meet this requirement and drain rainwater away from the stonework. As a result, the parapet area is reliably protected from moisture getting in. The edge profiles are fixed using stainless steel spring retainers and ripple profile connectors, or alternatively with rubber lip holders. In order to ensure a visually seamless transition to the façade, the company finishes its covers in the customer’s chosen colour, chosen from a number of available RAL shades. Maintenance or replacement is not necessary because the stable brackets are wind and weatherproof.

Safe cover for chimneys

As the tallest point of the house, the chimney is exposed to especially strong weather influences, which is why a cap to protect it from precipitation is recommended. Otherwise the water that gets in can lead to sooting in the chimney and repairs will become necessary. Custom-made chimney caps are Richard Brink’s original product and have since ensured dry chimneys for countless roofs. The system can be installed without damaging the chimney, and together with the right attachments forms a cladding that looks as if it were cast as a single piece.

The extensive product range for roofs from Richard Brink GmbH & Co. KG is available in standard or custom-made versions and delivers precisely-fitting solutions for flat roofs, landscaped roofs and terraces.
